This site is intended to contain information on and links to scholastic chess events and activities not only in Missouri but also in nearby areas of neighboring states, in particular Illinois and Kansas. Generally, Missouri players are welcomed in events in other states and vice-versa. USCF membership is often not required for these events.

Please visit the Web site of the Gateway Chess League, a major scholastic chess organization in the St. Louis area that organizes the Missouri State Scholastic Championship and the Denker/Polgar playoff tournaments. This site provides information about the league as well as the schedules of matches and tournaments.

Missouri State Scholastic Championship -- February 26, 2011

A nearly 400 chess players converged on the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, Missouri all vying for a state title. The MCA would like to extend its appreciation to the Gateway Chess League for running another fantastic event.

Missouri High School Denker/Polgar Playoff -- March 26, 2011

Jialin Ding of Saint Louis, Missouri was the winner of the 2011 Denker Playoff with a score of 3.5/4, winning a blitz playoff against Henry Cao, who also scored 3.5/4. He will be Missouri's representative at the 2011 Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions. For the third consecutive year in a row, Margaret Hua of Ballwin, Missouri was the winner of the 2011 Girls Championship Playoff and will be Missouri's representative at the 2011 Kasparov Foundation All-Girls Nationals. The Denker Tournament of Champions is held every year in conjunction with the United States Open. The All-Girls National Tournament is held in Chicago, Illinois this April.
