IM Michael Brooks Simul in Kansas City

International Master Michael A. Brooks will be giving a simultaneous exhibition in Kansas City May 16 and 17.

On Friday, May 16 IM Brooks will be at the Heart of America Chess Association at Noland Baptist Church, 4505 S Noland Rd. Independence, MO 64055. The simul will start at 7:30 pm and is open to all comers. As a club fund raiser the Heart of America Chess Association is asking for a $5 donation per player to help build up the club's inventory of sets and clocks. 

On Saturday, May 16 IM Brooks will be at The Chess Club at 2300 NW Vivion, Riverside, MO 64150. The cost is $20 and will be open only to the first 30 people. The event will start at 3 pm.

 

GM Maurice Ashley in St. Louis

Grand Master Maurice Ashley will be in St. Louis to give a Simultaneous Exhibition on August 22, 2007. Please contact Bill Wright for more information 314-822-5334.

Maurice Ashley is the first and only African-American grandmaster, awarded the title by FIDE in 1999. In the October 2006 rating lists, he had a FIDE rating of 2465, and a USCF rating of 2520. In 2005 he wrote the book Chess for Success, relating about his experiences and the positive aspects of chess. He was the main organizer for the HB Global Chess Challenge with the largest prize fund in history.
