Missouri State Chess Championship
2008 Championship Cycle Overview
The 2008 Missouri State Championship will be awarded based on the result of a 6-player round-robin invitational tournament, similar to the format used in 2007. In the event there is a tie for first place, the State Championship will be decided on tie-breaks, first of which is total number of wins, followed by number of wins with black, and finally the Sonneborn-Berger round-robin tie-break system. During the tournament.
Players to be invited to the championship tournament will be the current state champion, plus the winners of the 5 designated qualifying events in Missouri. If invitees decline invitations to participate, additional players would be selected through criteria established by the Board of the Missouri Chess Association.
